Q- How is Erik different from other consultants?
A- With a doctoral degree, a teaching practice, special training in the neuroscience and physiology of mindfulness, empathy, and compassion, as well as keeping a regular schedule of presenting research at peer-reviewed conferences Erik has a very special and rare set of skills. Forming a partnership with each client by sitting next to them, not being prescriptive, results in most interactions positively effecting both professional and personal growth and insight.
Q- How do I initiate a project or get further information?
A- Read this list of Frequently Asked Questions then fill out the Project Proposal Form on the homepage.
Q-How do I benefit from our time together?
A-Each consulting engagement focuses on what the client and situation needs.
Q-What standards do you use?
A-At the initial meeting we will discuss what would have the greatest effect with the smallest effort or cost of time or money. This can be adjusted as we move forward with your project.
Q-Do you work with everyone?
A-No. Not everyone is a good match for this type of work or Erik. It is important that during the initial conversation you are as honest as possible, as determining if the relationship will be productive for you is a part of the initial free conversation.
Q- When can we start?
A- This depends on my current schedule and your needs. On the proposal you can submit to me be sure to include a proposed start and end date. For academic support of dissertation presentations and other graduate study work, the earlier the better; scheduling time to fit with each university’s timeline is critical.
Q-How much do you charge for your services?
A-I charge either a project fee, daily fee, or an hourly rate; these rates vary for the type of job and type of organization. On the proposal form include your proposed budget and your intended outcomes/goals.
Q-How much planning is needed for our time together?
A-None. At our first meeting we can discuss your desired outcomes and metrics, as well as the context of our work together.
Q-Where does Erik work?
A-Erik can be found traveling to visit clients face-to-face, working on his upcoming book, or teaching in the Southern California area. He also works remotely via phone or internet.
Q-What if I need something more?
A- Talk to us! We have a wide range of experts who work on our team.
Q-What if I need something less?
A- Erik can also be available for short conversations to help clarify or explore an approach to a solution or shift.
Q-Why do you do this work?
A- Erik’s passion is to make the world you inhabit a better place. By being in touch with reality, not the stories we tell ourselves about reality, we can increase our true presence at work, with our families, and with strangers. Both positive interactions and healthy struggles make us all better people.
Q-Where can I find your workshops?
A- Classes are held regularly in the Southern California region, as well as scheduled for different areas around the United States, including Hawaii. Upcoming classes will also be held in Fiji and the Cook Islands. Email to be included on notifications.
Q- Can you guarantee I will get the answer that I want?
A- No. Our time together will highlight very useful, deep, and wide information that can be used to affect change. However, your preexisting idea of what will be discovered may or may not be what we find. If we have agreed upon outcome metrics those will be some of the answers you receive.
